Note	Had to leave school at 14 before finishing to support family Started work as an office boy, finished schooling and studied law through night school But always wanted to be a doctor Had been a stretcher bearer in WW1 and was one the few survivors of Dellville Wood battle Was injured in WW1, developed a radial nerve palsy, was one the first patients to be operated on by Mr Souter (Netley Abbey, England) Recovered full function in his arm and subsequently learnt to play the piano
