This is the current version of the Charlewood Family Tree. There are a number of people for whom I don't have many (or any) details. My apologies if you are one - there is no offence intended. Please let me know what needs fixing and I'll fix it. In the meantime, here it is.
Have fun!

What about the tree that shows everyone at once?
Many people prefer the hierarchical ancestoral tree which starts with a Charlewood in 1273. Unfortunately this is really not easily achieved anymore. There are over 600 people in the whole tree now. Not all of these are descendants of Alexander Charlewood but there are still over 450 of his descendants.
For the full detailed version, including notes and photos (where available), look here.
Can anyone see this information?
This website is not indexed by any search engines. that means you won't find it if you search using Google, Yahoo, etc. Only family members have been given the address. For now, I would prefer it to stay that way so that you can see all the dates I have in the database (birthdates etc). Before I list the site with any search engines, I will remove the birth dates of any living members of the family (done automagically by the software).
Where do you get the information from?
Some comes from the original genealogical work done in the '70's. Some comes from some recent genealogical research done by a UK company following up the estate of Henry Charlewood. Some comes from a UK royal genealogical website which gives the descendants of Harriet Charlewood. Did you know a descendant of Harriet Charlewood was one of Princess Diana's bridesmaids? The rest is from family members, covering the last three or four generations.
What are second cousins or cousins twice removed?
The first, second, third, etc reflects the number of generations between you and the pair of siblings at the top of the relationship. The number of "removes" refers to the number of generations difference between the two relations. For example: if Jack and Jill share a common great grandparent, ie their grandparents are siblings, then they are second cousins. Jack's child is Jill's second cousin once removed.
What information can I include about myself or my relatives?
Details I would appreciate are important dates and places (birth, marriage, divorce, death), the full date if possible, otherwise the year. A title is good (eg Professor) as well as occupation. There is also place to include a photograph and some short notes.
Why are some surnames in brackets?
This is where I don't know a woman's maiden name. When this happens, I use her married name and put it in brackets to indicate its not her maiden name. If you know your (your relative's) maiden name, please could you email me.
Can I include details of female descendants or ancestors?
In the original family tree, very few details were included of the descendants of Charlewood women or the ancestors of spouses. This reflects the trend to follow the "name" of the family, and not digress into descendants where the surname has changed due to marriage. I have actively included the descendants where the surname has changed and am quite happy to include ancestors of spouses. All I ask is that the information be verifiable.
When was this information last updated?
The website was last updated on 4th August 2019. If you've given me info since then, I will have captured it in the database but I haven't yet updated the website.
The best way is by email. The address is richard.charlewood@gmail.com
